Where is Eureka Springs, and When Should I Visit?

Surrounded by the beautiful Ozark Mountains is the lovely little town of Eureka Springs.  If you are wondering where is Eureka Springs and when is the best time to visit, we’ve got all the info right here.  Eureka Springs has been selected as one of America’s Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is home to Main Street which was named one of 2010’s America’s 10 Best Streets.  Eureka Springs is a destination for all ages and keeps visitors coming back to visit year after year.

There is something for everyone in all seasons here in Eureka Springs, but our favorite times of year to visit are in the spring and fall.  The fall season is a great time of year because the humid temperatures of summer have gone and the temperatures range in the 60’s during the day and lows in the 30’s.  The fall foliage in Arkansas is some of the best in the country so a visit in autumn brings on breathtaking views of the mountains.  There are also many fall festivals and events to partake in this time of year.  Some of the favorites returning this year include Corvette Weekend, the Ozark Folk Festival, Voices from the Silent City walking tours, Turpentine Creek’s Howl-O-Ween Party and the Fall Foliage and Eagle Watch on the Belle of the Ozarks.

The springtime in Eureka Springs is a pleasant time of year to visit as the season brings about blooming trees, green grass, and warm temperatures in the 70’s.  You might need a light jacket to walk around town, but overall the weather warms up nicely.  After a cold winter with highs in the 40’s and lows in the 20’s, the springtime is a nice time to go outside and enjoy the outdoors.  Take an afternoon stroll through the park, sit on the benches located throughout the Historic District or enjoy a meal at one of the many outdoor seating areas.  If you are new to the area, hop on one of Eureka Springs open-air trams for a narrated tour around town.  Each tour lasts around 85 minutes and offers 2 stops.  The spring weather makes these rides around town very pleasant.  Spring also offers some great events around town including the May Festival of the Arts with festivities over the course of an entire month, the annual Indie Film Festival, the Spring Arts and Crafts Show and the opening of The Great Passion Play performances.
