Useful Tips for Weekend Getaways from Tulsa

Planning a fun and much needed getaway doesn’t have to break the bank.  There are many weekend getaways from Tulsa that are budget friendly and easy to plan.  These useful tips will help you plan the perfect weekend away for the entire family or just the two of you.  The great thing about each of these destinations is that they are a short drive from Tulsa.

Oklahoma City is only a 2 hour and 10 minute drive from Tulsa.  The Bricktown district is a great spot to visit and act like a tourist all weekend.  The kids will enjoy riding the water taxi down the Bricktown Canal and have fun at the Myriad Botanical Gardens.  Tickets are reasonable priced at only $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children ages 4-12.  The OKC Zoo is another great family attraction with budget friendly admission prices and plenty of fun.

Branson, Missouri is about a 3.5 hour day trip from Tulsa.  Branson is filled with fun attractions for the whole family.  There’s so much to do, you’ll have a hard time fitting it all in at one time.  The kids will enjoy the Branson Dinosaur Museum, the Branson’s Promised Land Zoo, the National Tiger Sanctuary, and Silver Dollar City theme park.  After a packed day filled with activities, end the evening on the Branson Scenic Railway or taking in one of the many shows including The Haygoods and the Acrobats of China.

When you think of weekend getaways, Bentonville, Arkansas might not top the list but you should really check it out.  There are many museums in the town like The Walmart Museum, the Museum of Native American History and the popular Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.  The 21 and over crowd will love a stop at the Bentonville Brewing Company.  Stop by the taproom for a taste of their 5 microbrews.  The brewery even offers live entertainment on occasion.  And lastly on your trip to Bentonville, bring the whole family to Bentonville Square for the Bentonville Mystery History Tour.  This entertaining tour will take you on an adventure to the past with history of the Bentonville area with tales of Jesse James and Sam Walton.  Tickets are only $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for ages 12-15.  11 and under are admitted for free.

Located less than 3 hours from Tulsa is our beautiful town of Eureka Springs.  Eureka Springs offers great shopping and dining in the Historic District and must-see attractions around town including Thorncrown Chapel and Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge.  After an active day exploring the area, a stay at our charming bed and breakfast is just what you’ll need to relax.  Here at Arsenic and Old Lace, we have 5 guest rooms complete with Jacuzzi tubs and seasonal fireplaces.  You will wake each morning to a gourmet breakfast before you head out for another eventful day.
