Spring Break for Adults Destination Idea: Eureka Springs

Eureka Springs was named as one of America’s Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  If you’re looking to get away for a few days, the town of Eureka Springs is just the place for spring break for adults.  The natural surroundings provide endless opportunities for outdoor recreation and the Historic District is the perfect place for shopping, dining and a busy nightlife with something for everyone.

Take a walk on the wild side and check out Ozark Mountain Ziplines.  Opening just in time for spring break, the season begins on March 1st.  Spend the afternoon zip lining from tree to tree and seeing the beauty of the Ozark Mountains bird, plant and animal life.  Pricing is $89.00 plus tax per person.  A 10% discount will be applied for groups of ten or more.  Each tour is led by two professionally trained guides and lasts around two hours.  Tours are held rain or shine.

If spending the days shopping is more your idea of a relaxing spring break, look no further than the Historic District.  Eureka Springs has dozens of fine art galleries featuring the works of the over 400 working artists in the town.  Eureka Springs is also home to the Eureka Springs School of the Arts where you can create your own masterpiece or watch art being made at The Art Colony.

If you are looking for the perfect location to get outside and play all day, check out Lake Leatherwood City Park.  The park lies on 1600 acres with an 85 acre spring fed lake.  There are 21 miles of trails ideal for biking or hiking with varying terrain depending on skill level.  There is a paved boat ramp and an area for launching canoes and kayaks.  The Bait Shop provides rentals such as paddle boats, row boats and canoes and items for sale like bait, fishing poles and tackles.

Before heading out for a night on the town, stop by The Stone House for a glass of wine or beer paired with a plate of imported cheeses and salamis.  The inside décor has stone walls with a rustic wood interior and a custom made wood bar.  Jazz music inside creates a relaxing mood for hanging out with friends or venture to the outdoor terrace where live music is often scheduled.  There are plenty of shows to attend after drinks including Pine Mountain Theater, The Illusionist & the Medium at Intrigue Theater and The Great Passion Play.

One of Eureka Springs’ top rated attractions is the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down Music Theater.  The theater is the 4th longest running music theater in the Ozarks.  They feature their own in house show “The George Brothers featuring, P. Nutt, Ponytail and Girl”.  Other special events and groups are scheduled throughout the year.  From April through October, The George Brothers will be featured nightly at 7:30pm.  Don’t miss out on Eureka Springs #1 recommended show when visiting the area.

Pamper yourself during spring break with a stay at Eureka Springs’ bed and breakfast, Arsenic and Old Lace.  The inn offers five luxurious guest rooms each complete with unique offerings from private balconies, whirlpool bathtubs and king sized beds perfect for a good night’s sleep.  Each morning begins with a complimentary breakfast.  With the arrival of the spring weather, the porch makes a great spot for relaxing with a glass of tea or wine and enjoying the beautiful Arkansas hills scenery.  Check out Arsenic and Old Lace for spring break and see why guests return year after year.
