The Best Mountain Biking Trails

The Ozarks are home to an incredible diversity of mountain biking trails, suitable for a broad range of riders. One of the most popular places to go mountain biking in town is Lake Leatherwood City Park. Though this park feels like a vast wilderness of trails to explore, thanks to its 1610 acres, it’s actually located within Eureka Springs’ city limits, and is easy to get to. In total, there are over 25 miles of mountain biking trails within the park boundaries, in addition to a scenic spring-fed lake. Trails here range from short and difficult climbs, with elevation gains of up to 400 feet, to scenic and easy trails circling the lake. Bikers will enjoy rocky ledges, steep slopes, extended grades, creek crossings and plenty of varied terrain to keep the ride interesting.

One of the most popular trails in the Lake Leatherwood system is the Miners Rock Trail, the Lost Ridge Trail, the Beacham Trail, and the Twin Knobs Trail. Other popular mountain biking trails in the Eureka Springs area include the Black Bass Lake Trail, Kings River Deckhouse Trail, and the multitude of trails in the Hobbs State Park Conservation Area. There are also 5 new miles of mountain biking trails that just opened at the Great Passion Play, with more to come in the future.  Trails that are currently open include the easier Genesis and Exodus Trails, as well as the intermediate Holy Roller Trail, all of which are free to use.
