Hundreds of amazing trails can be found all over the state of Arkansas.  Whether you enjoy a simple stroll or a challenging hike, the Natural State has something for every age and skill level.  This guide to the best hiking in Arkansas will help you plan your trip to the area and know just where to start.  Lace up your shoes and grab a backpack and head out to explore the beautiful trails in Arkansas.

Just 30 minutes outside of Eureka Springs is Withrow Springs State Park.  This park offers scenic trails and beautiful blooming trees.  The Dogwood Nature Trail is a great trail to hike in the spring season because of its flowering Dogwood trees.  The trail is about 0.75 miles in length.  The park is also home to the War Eagle Trail which is named for the river that runs its length.  Hikers will enjoy the scenic overlook located at the top of the 150-foot bluff on the 2-mile roundtrip loop.  Lastly at Withrow Springs there is the Forest Trail that runs 1.25 miles.  Wildlife is easy to see here because of the oak and hickory trees that provide their food.  While you’re in the Eureka Springs area, check out the Leatherwood Loop at Lake Leatherwood City Park.  The trail boasts beautiful views of the lake and is easy for walking.  The loop runs for 3.96 miles and is a great trail to visit in all seasons.

Just about 30-miles north of Eureka Springs in Cassville, Missouri is Roaring River State Park.  Hikers looking for a challenge should try the Devil’s Kitchen trail with its rugged terrain, steep inclines and slick surfaces.  The trail runs for 1.5 miles.  The park’s Eagle Nest Trail leads to the highest point in the park.  Hikers will enjoy views of the river during the first half of the trail and keep their eyes open for views of Eagles in the trees.  The trail runs for 2.75 miles.

Rogers, Arkansas is home to Hobbs State Park.  In the park, hikers will enjoy a hike on the Pigeon Roost Trail.  This trail is a figure 8 shape which is broken down into 2 loops; the Dry Creek Loop and the Huckleberry Loop.  The hills on this trail make it moderate in difficulty and not appropriate for beginners.  Total hiking time can take as long as 9 hours to complete because the total equals 8.4 miles.

Visitors to Devil’s Den State Park will find great trails for hiking.  This historic park is located in Winslow, Arkansas.  Beautiful in the fall season is the Yellow Rock Trail.  The trail is a 3-mile loop with a scenic view at the top of the Yellow Rock Bluff.  Named for the park, the Devil’s Den Self-Guided Trail is a 1.5-mile loop, moderate in difficulty and offers hikers views of waterfalls in the wet season and plenty of plants and animals along the way.
