Lights, camera, action! Get ready for The Eureka Springs Film Festival which will be held in the City Auditorium this coming April. Celebrating the art of filmmaking, aspiring filmmakers can submit films in eight categories to then be judged and awarded by an elite panel of judges. Submitted films should be inspiring and aim to entertain. Categories include documentary, cause-related documentary, art film, drama and comedy. Shorts and feature length films are also welcome. The goal of this film festival is to promote independent filmmakers’ work and encourage filmmakers who might be just starting out.
The panels of judges at past festivals have had international experience in film and multi-media and are film and digital video instructors. Jill Noonan-Slane brings her experience as both an actress and owner of her own production company to the panel. She is joined by husband Rod Slane who is a composer, film producer and director. He has produced original music for feature films and television. He has also written and performed music for television commercials. Christopher Lewis’s background ranges from a newscaster to the host of PM Magazine. He has been in the film and television industry since the age of 16. Christopher’s wife, Linda Lewis joins the panel bringing her experience in radio marketing and promotions and television and film production. Linda and husband Christopher also own their own production company, The Entertainment Group. Doug Wynn brings his experience as an educational instructor to the judging panel. He has created curriculum for film, photography and web programs at the Art Institute of Charleston. Doug is also the Creative Director for Flying Cardboard and currently holds the title “Head of School” at Clear Springs School in Eureka Springs.
There is a three day pass for $25.00 for spectators to view the screenings and also includes all panel discussions and awards. To view the screenings for one day only, a ticket is $10.00 and will include any panel discussions on the same day. For admission to the awards event only, tickets are $5.00 and do not include any screenings.
