About Beaver Lake Arkansas

Beaver Lake Arkansas is a man-made reservoir located in Northwest Arkansas. The lake was formed by a dam across the White River in 1960 with the dam being completed in 1966. There are 487 miles of natural shoreline that extends over three counties. With spectacular views of the limestone bluffs and natural caves, visitors flock to the lake during all seasons to enjoy its natural beauty.
Beaver Lake is an outdoor lover’s paradise. This popular tourist destination offers areas for boating, fishing and swimming. The lake is surrounded by twelve parks with 2,008 acres of campgrounds with 650 individual campsites. The campsites include electricity, picnic shelters, restrooms, hiking trails and boat launching ramps. One example of the many parks that can be found along Beaver Lake is Hide A Way Campground and RV Park. This family owned and operated park is located in Rogers, Arkansas and offers cabins, RV hookups, tent sites and lots of outdoor recreation. For all the necessities needed for a day spent on the boat, Starkey Marina is a family owned marina located in Starkey Park. The marina rents pontoon boats by the half or whole day and even offers covered, overnight slips for storing boats.
For a relaxing cruise around Beaver Lake, the Belle of the Ozarks offers one hour and fifteen minute cruises from May through October. As you sail the sixty miles of scenic shoreline, the captain gives an informative recap of the history of the area. Among the many sites to be seen along the 12 mile cruise are a 200 acre game preserve, Whitney Mountain, Whitehouse Bluffs and Beaver Dam. The cruise is great for group tours of twenty to fifty guests. Group rates are $17.00 for adults and $7.50 for children 12 years and under. Individual rates are $22.00 for adults and $8.50 for children 12 years and under.
Beaver Lake offers plenty of opportunities for great fishing year round. The cold temperatures of the upper White River provide the perfect environment for rainbow and German brown trout. The lake is also great for smallmouth bass fishing, largemouth bass fishing and striper bass fishing. There is also clear-water fishing at the north end and dingy water fishing in the south end. This April 10th through the 13th, the Walmart FLW fishing tournament will be held at Prairie Creek Park on Beaver Lake.
