The Arts Center of the Ozarks is a great place to check out on your next trip to Springdale, Arkansas. Since 1967, Arts Center of the Ozarks has been entertaining audiences with musicals, dramas, comedies, gallery showings and cultural events. The center is the longest running community based arts center in Northwest Arkansas. Check out this list of their upcoming performances and be sure to mark it on your to-do list.
Coming up on November 14th is the Arts Center Fall concert. The show, starting at 7:30pm, will feature vocalists from all over Northwest Arkansas performing music from a variety of composers. For Ozark Gospel Blues, Brick Fields: Up Close and Soully Personal will be on November 22nd. Larry Brick and Rachel Fields will put on a soulful performance at 7:30pm.
The month of December at the Arts Center is full of events and performances sure to put you in the holiday spirit. Santa and Mrs. Claus are inviting families to enjoy breakfast on December 6th. Seatings will be at 8:15, 9:30 and 10:00am that Saturday. The morning will be fun for all ages with photo ops with Santa, decorating gingerbread cookies, crafts and a delicious breakfast. Click here to purchase tickets. December 7th at 3:00pm, a 65 piece concert band with musicians from all over Northwest Arkansas will perform a Winter Wonderland concert. This show is free! The Best Christmas Pageant Ever will be showing on December 12th, 13th and 14th. This story follows the Herdman children as they are cast in their church’s annual pageant. Known for being the meanest children in town, this play follows them as they take over the church and the entire pageant. Evening performances are at 7:30pm and Sunday matinee will be at 3:00pm.
Almost Maine will be showing at the center on the weekends of Feb 6th through the 8th and then again on the 13th and 14th. Written by John Cariani, this play takes place in the fictional town of Almost, Maine. The tale tells the story of the town’s residents and how they are falling in love in unexpected ways. This whimsical story takes place in the middle of winter. March 7th and 8th at 3:00pm bring the whole family to see Illinois Jane and the Pyramid of Peril. A map to a long lost pyramid sends Illinois Jane on a once in a lifetime adventure. Illinois Jane faces booby traps, pirates and fights on top of a moving train in this comedy for all ages. Tales from the South: On the Road will be at the Arts Center on March 15th. Paula Morell hosts this radio showcase of Southern writers at 6:00pm.
Much Ado About Nothing hits the stage April 10th through the 12th and 17th and 18th. In this comedy, Shakespeare’s best love themes are played out. In the end, the answer is it was all much ado about nothing.
