Foodies are in it for the whole experience, not just the food and there are a few places in Eureka Springs that are a food lover’s dream come true. If you haven’t experienced these unique eateries, they are worth a reservation on your next outing.
At 22 S Main Street, you’ll find a unique building from 1888 and home to Mud Street Cafe. The interior features limestone walls, Victorian carpet, stained glass and local artist’s pieces of art are displayed throughout. In addition to their award-winning drinks, they serve breakfast, lunch and a Sunday brunch. Croissant sandwiches, wraps, and burgers are just a few of their menu items. Relax with an espresso drink or fresh brewed coffee in their cozy seating area.
Aquarius Taqueria also on S Main Street features authentic Mexican street food. Their margaritas are made from fresh juices; never a mix and tortillas are handmade. Some of their unique specialty items have included a mango habanero margarita and a house-made pork tamale dinner. Throughout the summer, Melonlight Studio will be teaching salsa dancing on the patio every 1st and 3rd Thursday. They do offer outdoor seating on the patio which has a 25-foot waterfall.
Sister restaurant to Aquarius Taqueria is Local Flavor Cafe on 71 South Main Street. The atmosphere has local art and vintage lamps and there is an option to dine on the patio overlooking the street. Local Flavor offers an extensive wine list and a menu featuring Italian, French and Southwest dishes. Dinner entrees include house-made meatballs in their Meatballs and Pomodoro and Eggs Benedict at their Sunday brunch. Local Flavor is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00a.m to 9:00p.m and 9:00a.m to 3:00p.m on Sundays.
From April through October, Eureka Springs foodies can enjoy a scenic ride while dining at Café Roulant. The dinner tour is $49.00 per person and lasts around 1 hour. Each meal is unique and is currently sponsored by Farm to Table Fresh. Dinner on the trolley is Saturday nights at 6:00p.m.
Winner of many awards including Best Steak, Best Romantic Restaurant, and Best Overall Restaurant is Gaskins Cabin Steakhouse on Hwy 23. The cabin was built in 1864 by John Gaskins and his family and still stands today. They are open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday at 5:00p.m. Their menu features items like prime rib, filet mignon, and Atlantic salmon. Their chocolate bread pudding and key lime tart desserts are scratch made and a must at the end of a fantastic meal. Local patrons receive a 10% discount when dining.
