Explore Lake Leatherwood City Park
There are plenty of wonderful places to enjoy hiking, biking, and the stunning natural beauty on display in the Eureka Springs area. However, one of our favorite places to spend a quiet summer afternoon is at Lake Leatherwood City Park. Lake Leatherwood City Park is only a few miles from our Bed and Breakfast, too, which means you can be there and enjoying the trails or the lake in no time at all!
Lake Leatherwood was formed by one of the largest hand-cut native limestone dams in the country, which you can (and should) walk across, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The lake itself is perfect for fishing for large-mouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, and other species. It’s also a fun place for boating and swimming. Paddle boats and fishing boats, along with any gear you may need, are available for rent at Lake Leatherwood City Park.
Inside Lake Leatherwood City Park, you’ll find a wide variety of trails traversing this 1600 acre park – 25 miles of them to be exact! It’s great for walking, running, or biking. Along the way, you’ll enjoy plenty of wildlife, springs, an intermittent creek, historic stone walls and bridges, beautiful rock formations, and the peaceful solitude you crave from being outside in nature.
If you’re looking for more adventure than what you find in Lake Leatherwood City Park, then head to one of the many great hikes in the Ozark Mountains, float down Buffalo River, or head out onto the broad expanse of Beaver Lake. The opportunities for adventure are endless in Eureka Springs!
