New England is a popular place to see the fall colors, but did you know that Arkansas, especially here in the Ozarks, rivals New England in its beauty each fall? If you want to see the best fall colors in Arkansas, there’s only one place to go, and that is Eureka Springs. It’s a town of only 2,000 people, but over 750,000 people visit us each year. There must be a reason for all of that tourist traffic, right? Well, fall colors are but one of the many reasons people flock to the Ozark Mountains surrounding Eureka Springs each year. Each September, October, and November, the Ozark Mountains are set ablaze with a blanket of

Eureka Springs is located in the northwestern corner of Arkansas, which means we’re one of the first places in the state where fall colors start their annual display. One of our favorite ways to take in the fall foliage in Eureka Springs is by hiking up the Whitaker Point, often referred to as the Hawkbill Crag Trail. There are several other wonderful hikes to take in the Buffalo Natural River. It was the first designated national river in the U.S., and never fails to disappoint during these crisp autumn months. A few other fall favorite hikes include Dogwood Canyon, Pigeon Creek on Lake Norfolk, Pedestal Rocks trail, and the Kings Bluff trail.
If you want to enjoy a beautiful scenic drive, head to the Scenic 7 Byway, or the Pig Trail Scenic Byway, both just south of Eureka Springs in the Ozark National Forest. If you’re driving to Eureka Springs from somewhere else, consider making one of these scenic drives part of your trip.
