Sunday, September 2nd, 2012
Harley Davidson 1974

A 1974 Harley Davidson 61 PS. See motorcycles of every make and vintage. Bike Blues & BBQ 2012 will be riding through Eureka Springs, AR during the last weekend of September.

Wednesday, Sept. 26 to Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012
Get ready to hear the roar of engines throughout Eureka Springs. This annual motorcycle event attracts bikers from all over to ride the Ozarks and gather for BBQ, live blues and crazy good fun. Bikes of every kind will be rumbling around or parked on display through the weekend. If you love to ride or if you love to look at some gorgeous and unique machines, then this is the event for you!

The center of the action will be in Fayetteville, AR at Dickson Street. The hours are…well, all day and all night–the fun doesn’t stop at Bikes, Blues and BBQ! The Dickson Street Main Stage will have live blues bands throughout the rally. The Stokes Air Bike Show/Cycle Connection H-D Battle of the Bikes will be at noon on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Dickson and West. This is the time to really see everything from custom choppers to classic vintage bikes. The crowd gets in on the action, judging the bikes as they drive by and deciding which is the coolest one. Afterwards, at 4 pm, the Bikes, Blues & BBQ Parade of Power will travel from the Washington County Fairgrounds back to Dickson Street.

The BBQ Contest also has a People’s Choice winner. This year’s BBQ competition will be at the Washington County Fairgrounds, 2356 N. McConnell Avenue in Fayetteville. In addition to barbecue, the Fairgrounds will be transformed into one giant beer garden with the free live music keeping things rocking.

Bikes, Babes and Bling, the ladies’ motorcycle rally, joins the festivities this year and brings more events including a fashion show, women-only karaoke and more.

The whole event promises to be a great time while bringing in much needed donations for BBB-supported charities. As a non-profit 501(c)(3), Bikes, Blues & BBQ has donated over $600,000 to local charities since 2000. Organizations such s a Big Brothers & Big Sisters of NWA, NWA Free Health Center, Youth Bridge and many others have benefited from the funds raised by the annual Bikes, Blues & BBQ event.

Spend quality time with your family, and then retreat to our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast for some alone time. With fewer worries filling their minds, your family will be more relaxed while you’re in their home. The holiday will be better for everyone.

If you don’t yet have set plans for Thanksgiving, and if you’re ready for a change this year, consider spending Thanksgiving here, in beautiful Eureka Springs. Take a break from hosting or being hosted, and enjoy the long weekend at your leisure. Several Eureka Springs restaurants will serve Thanksgiving meals, some family style, some buffet style.

2011 Christmas Tour of Homes

Friday, November 11th, 2011

The Christmas Tour of Homes has been a Eureka Springs tradition for nearly 30 years. Each winter, owners of historic homes in Eureka Springs open their doors to the pubic and warmly invite them to step inside. In 2011, the Tour of Homes takes place on Saturday, December 3, from 3 to 8 p.m. Don’t miss it. As of now, we still have rooms available at our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast.

A scene from the 2010 Christmas Tour of Homes in Eureka Springs.

Docents dressed in period costumes will welcome tour-goers to each home. Elegant ladies and gentlemen dressed in period garb will stroll the streets of historic downtown Eureka Springs. All this makes for a very festive mood.

Live music and refreshments are part of the tour as well. Tour-goers will be greeted by choirs at some homes, carolers at other homes, and bands at still others; last year featured a string duo and a brass band. Hot chocolate, warm cider, appetizers, and sweet treats will also be served.

It’s possible to drive to these homes, but in truth, the Christmas Tour of Homes is envisioned as a walking tour. The Eureka Springs trolley runs until 6 p.m., and is a convenient way to move from one area of town to another. Yet even those who drive will find numerous steps, stairs, and inclines throughout the tour. Comfortable walking shoes are advised.

The Christmas Tour of Homes should take between 1 and 2 hours. Afterwards, enjoy a little holiday shopping in downtown Eureka Springs, popping in and out of stores with the folks dressed in historic finery. Grab a bite to eat (if you’re not already full from all the tasty treats offered on the tour), then head back to our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast and warm yourself by the fire.

Tickets for the Homes Tour may be purchased at Eureka Springs Christmas Tour of Homes.

Art and Innkeeping in Eureka Springs

Friday, November 4th, 2011

The arts are highlighted often in Eureka Springs, but never more so than on the second Saturday of every month, when new exhibits replace old. Art galleries, shops, and museums stay open until 9 p.m., frequently hosting artist receptions. Some serve drinks and appetizers. The second Saturday of the month is a popular time for travelers, which is why we recommend booking a room in our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast soon.

Is innkeeping right for you?

It’s always fun to browse the art galleries and shops of Eureka Springs, which feature the works of more than 1,000 artists. Many of these artists live in the region – the Ozarks draw creative folks and inspire art – though national and international artists are also represented. The advantage of attending one of the Eureka Springs Second Saturday Gallery Strolls is that it feels like a party. It’s kind of like going to see a movie with a crowd of people on opening night, which is way more fun than watching it by yourself at home.

The next Second Saturday Gallery Stroll in Eureka Springs takes place November 12. The following day, we begin an Aspiring Innkeepers Seminar at our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast. It runs for three days, from November 13-15, 2011, and is a great way to explore whether or not innkeeping is right for you.

Many people who enjoy staying at Bed and Breakfasts have, at one time or another, considered innkeeping as a career. There are many advantages to innkeeping, and many perks, yet like any career, innkeeping also has its challenges. Our Aspiring Innkeepers Seminar puts potential innkeepers at the table with working innkeepers. We’ll talk about expectations, realities, economics, and marketing. By the end of the three days, you should know if innkeeping is a good fit for you, or if you’d be happier remaining a guest.

Up-to-date Second Saturday Gallery Stroll information is available at Art of Eureka.

Please visit our Aspiring Innkeepers page for additional information about the upcoming seminar.

Eureka Springs Sweet Treats Tour

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

Join us for the 2011 Holiday Sweet Treats Tour.

The 5th Annual Sweet Treats Tour of Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfasts takes place Saturday, December 10, 2011.

As in past years, Arsenic and Old Lace will participate in the tour, along with eight other Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfasts. Participants are invited to visit each inn to see holiday decorations, taste sweet treats, and pick up new recipes for baking at home. Folks who visit all nine participating inns will be eligible to win one of three $100 gift certificates to participating Eureka Springs B&B’s.

Our December Sweet Treats Weekend includes two nights lodging, 2 gourmet breakfasts, 2 tickets to the self guided Sweet Treats Tour, and 2 Trolley Tickets, so getting to the inns will be easy. Please see our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast Packages for details.

The holidays are a favorite time of year for us; we love any excuse to bake a fresh batch of sweet treats and decorate the inn. We look forward to seeing you then.
