New Zip Line in Eureka Springs

Saturday, April 13th, 2013

Maybe you’ve heard about zip lining on tropical vacations to Costa Rica or the rainforest. Well, we now have one of these intensely fun attractions here in Eureka Springs! Fun for both kids and adults, the Ozark Mountain Ziplines is now open for the summer 2013 season!

Experience the thrill of a Zip Line Canopy Tour right in the heart of the beautiful Ozark Mountains. imageSoar amongst the trees 200+ feet above the ground from one platform to another – some as far as 1800 feet away from each other. See the vast, gorgeous, Ozark hardwood trees and limestone cliffs in a whole new way!

Ozark Mountain Zipline is designed to offer a completely safe experience. The trained staff oversees the ziplining and delivers two hours of fun per tour for any person, age 3 and up.

What is a Zip Line?

From a structural standpoint, the zip line tour is a system of cables and platforms, wherein the participant “zips” through the treetops wearing a safety harness secured to the cable. Wooden platforms suspended by cables serve as a landing base in each tree that you “zip” to and from. You also launch from limestone cliffs. All natural and minimal hiking on clear trails brings you to the bottom of the gorge when you are finished with your tour. An air-conditioned bus  (or heated – depending on the weather) is waiting for you with beverages to take you back to the welcome center, a few minutes away.

Each tour is $89 per person (plus tax). Group rates are available as well, call (479) 363-6699 for more information.

Peak Foliage – Elusive and Enchanting

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Autumn is the most glorious time to visit Eureka Springs and the Ozarks. Forests change their muted greens for lively reds, oranges, and yellows. The air turns slightly more crisp, especially in the morning and evening. During the peak, it’s impossible to ignore the glory of nature.

autumn falls...

Experience the glory of nature in the Arkansas Ozarks.

Alas, knowing just when the leaves will peak isn’t easy. Some years the leaves seem to turn all at once; other years they tease us, one tree turning today, another tree turning next week. The good thing is that they’re always beautiful, no matter when they turn.

Our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast is in the heart of the Arkansas Ozarks. Arkansas autumns may not enjoy the fame of New England falls, but that’s not because they don’t deserve it. Fall foliage is spectacular here, too.

Fall colors are expected to peak soon; traditionally we peak in mid October to Early November. Our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast is filling fast, as leaf peepers and those seeking an autumn adventure make their plans. We encourage you to make your Fall Foliage reservations soon.

Boxley ElkYesterday, as I returned home to Eureka Springs from the State bed and breakfast meeting, I drove through the Boxley Valley in the Buffalo River National Park and saw a herd of about 40 elk grazing in a small pasture right next to the road. (more…)
