Creative Energy, at Basin Park.

  • Turpentine Creek is celebrating their 20th anniversary with 20 days of art. Artists are invited to set up a workspace at the Refuge so they can capture the animals on canvas, in film, or with clay. Come watch the artists at work, admire the animals, and perhaps purchase some of the artwork. A share of the profits will benefit Turpentine Creek Animal Refuge. Art with the Animals concludes on May 8, 2012. Additional information is available at Turpentine Creek.
  • Electric Vision: Creative Energy Project Exhibition opens today. This interactive light painting and photography project, created by Jeremy Mason McGaw and friends, consists of 17 painted images and three images made from people attending a few public events during April. All 20 images will be on display in the Basin Park downtown throughout the entire month of May.
  • Also beginning today is the Invitational Art Show at ARTIFACTS Folk & Fine Art Gallery. Art work by approximately 50 local artists will be on display throughout the month. Vote for your favorite. The artist with the most votes will receive over $3,000 in prize money.

May is a wonderful time to visit Eureka Springs. We hope to welcome you this month to our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast.

The Music of the Eureka Springs May Arts Festival

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

Nothing puts a person into a festive mood like live music. That’s why there are many concerts during the Eureka Springs May Festival of the Arts. We love to see guests of our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast sashay through the door after listening to a free concert in Basin Spring Park. It’s a cheerful sight.

The free concerts in Basin Spring Park take place daily throughout the month of May (weather permitting). Local and regional musicians bring all genres to the stage. Bring a blanket and a picnic, stretch out, and let the music waft over you. Or bring your dancing shoes and cut up the grass.

See Delta Reign at Basin Spring Park in Eureka Springs.

You never know who will take the stage for the daily concerts, but we are looking forward to a few musicians brought in specifically for the May Festival of the Arts:

  • May 21, 1-5 p.m. Bluegrass by Hogscalders & Delta Reign
  • May 28, 1-3 p.m. Jones Van Jones
  • May 28 3-5 p.m. buddha’s grove shoes reggae dance party

The 2011 May Festival of the Arts concludes with the Eureka Springs Blues Weekend, June 2-5. Nearly 40 Blues groups will perform in several locations throughout the city: Basin Spring Park, the Basin Park Hotel Barefoot Ballroom, The Auditorium, and several restaurants and bars in town.

A few performers scheduled during the Eureka Springs Blues Weekend:

Tinsley Ellis at Eureka Springs Blues Weekend, June 2-5, 2011.

  • Elvin Bishop
  • Tinsley Ellis
  • Marquise Knox
  • G-Funk
  • Coco Montoya

Eureka Springs May Festival of the Arts has been great fun to date. Guests of our Bed and Breakfast Eureka Springs have enjoyed the ARTrageous Parade (which was as spectacular and colorful as ever), the downtown Art Fair, and more than one Gallery Stroll. They’ve come back to the inn laden with artistic treasures and unique crafts, and they’ve gushed about all the wonderful artwork they’ve seen. Their enthusiasm is contagious.

The May Festival of the Arts infuses Eureka Springs with creativity and joy each year. If you are unable to make it to town this year, consider planning ahead for the 2012 Eureka Springs May Festival of the Arts. Hope to see you then at our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast.

Celebrate Mothers and Fathers in Eureka Springs

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Eureka Springs is hopping these days. The May Festival of the Arts is in full swing. As darkness falls each evening, hundreds of colorful lanterns are illuminated throughout the city; merely walking from our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast to a nearby restaurant is an artistic experience. This is one of the most exciting times to visit Eureka Springs, and a great time to travel here with your mom and dad.

Visit with your parents on the porch of our Eureka Springs B&B

Mother’s Day is this weekend, May 8, 2011. Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19th. Treat your parents to a night or two at our luxurious Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast during May or June; better yet, join them there.  Your parents will be thrilled when you put everything else in your life on hold so you can spend some time with them.

Daily concerts (for free!) take place at Basin Spring Park now through the fall (weather permitting). A great variety of indoor performances take place almost nightly at The Auditorium; John Two Hawks will captivate audiences with his lovely Native American Flute Music on Mother’s Day; June 2-4 is Blues Weekend.

Think of all the times your mother and father put everything else on hold for you. They cheered at your games, they applauded at your concerts, and they schlepped you from one activity to the next. They were there for you when you needed them and did their best to let you go when you needed them to do that. They did it all out of love. Do something out of love for them now – spend some time with them in Eureka Springs.

Eureka Springs is Mad About Art

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

There are towns here and there that seem to draw artistic people to them. Perhaps it’s because they are aesthetically pleasing in and of themselves – boasting attractive architecture and a lovely setting. Perhaps it’s a case of “like draws like” -once a few artists take up residency, others are bound to follow. Port Townsend, WA is one of these artistic towns, as is Traverse City, MI. So, too, is Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

We see evidence of this frequently at our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast. Our guests travel to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, for many reasons, but more often than not, they travel here for the arts. At no time is this truer than during the May Festival of the Arts.

2011 is the 24th annual May Festival of the Arts. Eureka Springs gives itself over to the arts for the entire month, from the Grand Illumination of town with colorful paper lanterns, to the Blues Weekend at the start of June.

Check out the Spring Art Fair, May 13-14, 2011.

Favorite Eureka Springs May Festival of the Arts events include:

  • Downtown Art Fair, May 13 and 14, 2011, in Basin Spring Park. This open air Fine Art exhibit / sale features the work of regional artists. It’s a great place to pick up art for your home, or simply to admire great artwork.
  • Ozarks Chorale performance on May 7 at 7p.m., at the Eureka Springs City Auditorium.
  • Belle of Amherst, May 13 – 14 at 8p.m., and May 15 at 2p.m. A fantastic one woman show about Emily Dickinson, by Laurel Owen.

There are many, many more special events throughout the month of May. Find the events you’d most like to attend, then book a room at our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast. A detailed schedule of events is available at May Festival of the Arts.
