    Eureka Springs Inn breakfasts

Start your day with Breakfast at Arsenic and Old Lace.

When hunger strikes, you’ll find special art exhibits in many Eureka Springs restaurants. We always enjoy seeing the new shows at Keel’s Creek Winery and Art Gallery, and we look forward to seeing what will grace the walls of The Grand Taverne, the Cottage Inn Restaurant, and Ermilio’s.

Our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast is located on a wooded hillside in the Eureka Springs Historic District. If you like to walk (and don’t mind hills), you’ll find we are walking distance to many of the May Festival of the Arts activities.

Dining Out in Eureka Springs

Friday, February 17th, 2012

If you’re like us, you enjoy trying new restaurants when you travel. If you are a regular guest at our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast, you probably look forward to visiting your favorite Eureka Springs restaurant while you’re here; we certainly have favorite eateries in every town we frequent. The perennial question for us when we travel to a familiar place is, “Should we try a new restaurant, or stick with what we know is good?”

Life is full of risks, some richly rewarded, some not.

As innkeepers, we are often asked for Eureka Springs restaurant recommendations. See below for our top picks and our guests favorites.

Do all your holiday shopping in historic, downtown Eureka Springs.

Feeling spontaneous? Why not plan a Last Minute Getaway to our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast this weekend?

Eureka Springs is a great place for holiday shopping. The historic downtown area is picturesque, and the winding streets are lined with many art galleries and eclectic shops. There may well be better places to shop, but we can’t think of any that are more interesting. Check out The Jewelry Show for unique jewelry, and Cottage Caboodle for all sorts of fabulous home accessories. Zark’s Fine Design Gallery features the largest American blown glass collection in the Midwest, along with jewelry and pottery. Iris at the Basin Park offers art, jewelry, prints, and a fabulous selection of local music. There is a good chance you’ll find items in Eureka Springs that you won’t find elsewhere.

When you’re ready to rest your feet and enjoy some refreshment, try Casa Colina, Local Flavor Cafe, or DeVito’s, three favorite Eureka Springs restaurants among locals. Or head back to our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast and dip your hand in the cookie jar. We keep the jars full and the cookies fresh.

If you enjoy sweets, consider participating in the Sweet Treats Tour on December 10, 2011. Nine Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfasts, including our own Arsenic and Old Lace, dress in holiday best and fill our tables with, well, sweet treats. Spend quality time with your family, and then retreat to our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast for some alone time. With fewer worries filling their minds, your family will be more relaxed while you’re in their home. The holiday will be better for everyone.

If you don’t yet have set plans for Thanksgiving, and if you’re ready for a change this year, consider spending Thanksgiving here, in beautiful Eureka Springs. Take a break from hosting or being hosted, and enjoy the long weekend at your leisure. Several Eureka Springs restaurants will serve Thanksgiving meals, some family style, some buffet style.

Eureka Springs restaurants serving Thanksgiving dinner, 2011:

  • The Crescent Hotel. Roasted Turkey, rosemary and garlic Leg of Lamb, Steamship of Beef, Honey Glazed Ham, Mesquite Salmon, and a host of salads, sides, and desserts.
  • Garden Bistro. A Thanksgiving feast guaranteed to be as delicious as their other food.

Thanksgiving Weekend is a festive time in Eureka Springs. The spirit of Christmas takes over, and colorful lights and decorations dress streets, homes, and shops. It’s a fantastic weekend to start your holiday shopping. The unique shops and art galleries in historic downtown Eureka Springs will be open all weekend. In addition, the Eureka Springs School of the Arts hosts their Winterfest Fine Art and Craft Show on November 25 and 26, from noon to 6 p.m., at the Inn of the Ozarks Convention Center. It should be easy to find unique gifts for your friends and loved ones.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast during this holiday season.

Lake Leatherwood, Eureka Springs

Friday, July 15th, 2011

Our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast is surrounded by opportunities for outdoor recreation. Eureka Springs is nestled in the Ozark Mountains, enormous Beaver Lake is a short drive from town, and the Buffalo River National Park is less than an hour from our inn. Many of our guests spend a good deal of time exploring the natural beauty of the area on foot, by bike, and in boats.

One of our favorite spots is Lake Leatherwood Park, which is just a couple miles west of our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast.

Lake Leatherwood Dam Bridge

Take in great views from the Lake Leatherwood Dam Bridge.

Fifteen miles of trails traverse this 1,600-acre municipal park, suitable for walking, running, or biking. Trails run along creeks, pass by picturesque historic stone walls, and lead over small bridges. Be sure to walk out on the Lake Leatherwood Dam Bride, pictured above. The dam is one of the largest native limestone (hand-cut) dams in the country. It’s easy to find solitude in Lake Leatherwood Park, close to town though it is.

The 85-acre spring fed lake is a lovely place to fish for large mouth bass, channel catfish, blue gill and more. Boating is allowed, but thanks to a ‘No Wake” requirement for all motorized boats, the lake feels peaceful. Paddle boats and fishing boats are available for rental. Designated swimming areas provide a safe place to cool off on hot days.

After a long day hiking, biking, or boating in the Lake Leatherwood area, return to our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast for a cool drink and tasty home made treat on the porch. Then take advantage of the fact that the inn is so close to the Eureka Springs historic downtown area, and stroll to town (as long as you don’t mind walking up and down a few hills). Several good Eureka Springs restaurants are less than a mile from our romantic inn: Casa Colina, DeVito’s, the New Delhi Cafe, and more.

Schools Out! Eureka Springs B&B Special

Friday, April 29th, 2011

You work hard during the school year. Teachers create lesson plans, grade work, and most of all, strive to keep students interested in learning what you have to teach. Administrators keep everything flowing smoothly, no matter what happens. It is rewarding work. It is challenging work. Now it’s time for a break.

Day 83

Eureka Springs B&B offers an Educators Special.

Our Eureka Springs AR Bed and Breakfast understands that teachers and school administrators work hard. We also understand that while the work is fulfilling, education is rarely a career that builds great wealth. It is with all this in mind that we have created the following Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast Special:

Schools out! Schools out! Teacher let the mules out!

Between March and August, 2011, teachers and school administrative personnel may get more for less, Monday – Thursday. The special includes three nights lodging, gourmet breakfasts, satisfying snacks, and a $25 voucher towards lunch or dinner at one of Eureka Springs six finest restaurants: Ermilio’s; DeVito’s; Gaskin’s Cabin; Local Flavor; Casa Colina; Autumn Breeze.

We appreciate all you do. Thank you.
