Friday, November 26th, 2010

Well, Arsenic and Old Lace is “beginning to look a lot like Christmas”  The outside lights are up and tree is up, Beverly is working on the cookies for the up coming Sweet Treats Tour (December 11).  For those of you who we’ve enjoyed seeing over the last few years we look forward to seeing you again and if we haven’t seen you yet we look forward to meeting you.

Eureka Springs has a pretty full schedule for the Christmas season.  The historic tour of Homes is set for December 4; the folks at the Passion Play are producing the Reason for the Season; both the Pine Mountain Jamboree and the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down are having their Christmas Shows; the Downtown Network has many events scheduled for the Downtown Merchants!  Of course if you can’t get here to enjoy Arsenic and Old Lace and celebrations in Eureka Springs; you can prepare your favorite Arsenic and Old Lace dish from our cookbook; our great sheets and robes are available.  If you have those folks that are impossible to find the right gift for then consider a Gift Certificate.  Just give us a call we’d be happy to give you more information and will enjoy speaking with guests both past and future.  Remember Arsenic and Old Lace will help you excite all your senses!

What’s Happening!

Saturday, September 18th, 2010

This is going to be a weekly post to update our readers with the goings on In Eureka Springs and at Arsenic and Old Lace Bed & Breakfast.

We are in the final days of summer and we are looking forward to the cooler weather and the beauty of fall.  Over the next few weeks: the deer are changing from their red summer coats to there shinny gray winter coats;   fall officially arrives (September 22); the Corvettes will come to town (Corvette weekend October 1 & 2); it will be time for the War Eagle Crafts Fair (October 14-17); the leaves will turn (who knows); and the Holidays will be right around the corner.

This photograph is just a sampling of the scrumptious bounty that comes out of Beverly’s kitchen (I am allowed in the kitchen but only to assist; except when Beverly is out of town).  The recipes for our breakfast dishes as well as some family favorites are compiled into our cookbook “A Celebration of Food” pick one up while you are visiting or just give us a call.

Don’t forget the December Sweet Treats tour Saturday, December 11, 2010 call for details and specials.

Well, that’s all for now — Doug.

When enjoying a romantic getaway at Arsenic & Old Lace, enjoy a relaxing cruise with the Belle of the Ozarks.  View the sparkling clear water of Beaver Lake and the panoramic shoreline.  The cruise provides a narrative of the waters, along with a little humor.  Points of interest include Beaver Dam, White House Bluffs, a submerged homestead, the Ozark Bluff Dweller’s burial ground, and the 200 acre game preserve island.  Wildlife is in abundance as guests view deer swimming in the lake or the return of the bald eagles in the fall.

The Belle of the Ozarks operates from May thru October with a duration of 1 ¼ hours.  Departure times are at 11 A.M., 1 P.M., and 3 P.M. from the dock at Starkey Park.  Call for reservations at 1-800-552-3803.

This is an example of the wildlife folks see in our garden.  We are close enough to walk to town but the wildlife enjoys the “breakfast” we serve them!
